Dear Students,

There will be a FYP introductory lectures on Research Methodology for students doing FYP in Sem 1 AY08/09. Please see below for the lecture details.

Date: 19 - 22 August 2008 (Tuesday to Friday)

Time: 6pm - 8pm

Venue: Engineering Auditorium

It is compulsory for students doing FYP to attend the lectures. Please make yourself available for the sessions. Thank you.

CN2122 Fluid Mechanics/ ME2143 Fluids Mechanics will be replaced by BN2202 Introduction to Biotransport for students matriculated in AY07/08 onwards. Students matriculating in AY07/08 will read BN2202 in Semester 1, AY08/09.

Students matriculate AY04/05 will fulfill the technical elective requirement if they have read 4 technical electives modules with a minimum 15 MCs. However, students must also ensure that the 160 MCs graduation requirement is met.

Library Tutorial session for FYP students

Outline:

  • Relevant sources of current information that are better than Google Scholar e.g: Engineering Village 2 which has about 16 million records, covering 8,000 journals as well as conference papers, etc. PubMed which has 17 million records, covering over 5,000 journals
  • Demo on using: Engineering Village 2 PubMed
  • How to interprete citations, e.g. US5,719,665. Yamazoe Feb17,1998
  • The range of library services that are available to you just through a few mouse clicks

Changes in the Bioengineering curriculum

BN1901 Principles of Bioengineering will be changed to BN2101 Principles of Bioengineering wef AY0708.

BN2101 will be offered in sem 1 AY07/08 and it will be offered in sem 2 AY08/09.

Students who have not read PY1105 Physiology I as core modules will read BN2201 Quantitative Physiology for Bioengineers.

BN2201 will be offered in sem 2 AY08/09.

For BIE students matriculated in AY05/06 (exclude poly intake student)

Students matriculated in AY05/06 do not need to read ME2142 Feedback Control System and PY1106 Physiology II.
 

They will be required to read MLE1101 Introductory Materials Science and Engineering in 2nd semester AY06/07.
 
PY1106 Physiology II will be included as a technical elective module.
 
BN4101 B. Eng Dissertation (8 MCs over 2 semesters) will be changed to BN4101R (12 MCs over 2 semesters).
