A group of graduate students from Optical Bioimaging Lab initiated the opening of an OSA Student Chapter on June 2008.
This is the first of such chapter from the National University of Singapore.
The Chapter intends to achieve the following:
- Promote awareness of the Optical Society of America and career with optics.
- Enhance the quality of life for students who work in this specialized field through the promotion of student identity, student education and industrial collaboration.
- Organize community outreach in the form of Youth Science education, community education (i.e. university tours or lectures) and promote the optics programs at National University of Singapore to the community at large.
Current and upcoming events organized by the chapter:
- Singapore microscopy and optics seminars: This seminar series provides a forum for researchers involved in optics and microscopy to gather once a month to exchange their work and expand their network. This series is being organized in collaboration with Dr. Graham Wright from Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory. This series began in December 2009.
