Graduate Students

Chen Ling   BEng

Chen Ling obtained her bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering of Xi’an Jiaotong University and joined NUS as a Ph.D. candidate in Division of Bioengineering. Now she is studying under Dr Chen Nanguang in Bioimaging Lab. Her study is mainly about image reconstruction algorithms. She is interested in some mathematical applications and software programming.
In the spare time, she prefers some sports like swimming or jogging. Music and reading are also her favourite.

Zhang Qiang  BEng

Zhang Qiang obtained his Bachelor degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, in the year of 2006, and began his PhD study and research at NUS since then. Under Dr. CHEN Nanguang, who is his supervisor, his research mainly focuses on time-resolved optical spectroscopy and imaging, for example, diffuse optical tomography.

His hobbies include sports, especially football, music, travelling and computer games.

Mr. Chong Shau PohChong Shau Poh  BEng

Chong Shau Poh received his bachelor degree in Bioengineering from National University of Singapore in 2007. Currently he is a 3rd year PhD student in the Optical Bioimaging Lab (Division of Bioengineering) under the mentoring of Dr. Chen Nanguang. He has been working on the development of Focal Modulation Microscopy (FMM) over the last two year aiming to improve the imaging depth of confocal microscopy for the application of deep imaging in living tissues.

Kalpesh B Mehta  MTech,BE
(kalpesh@nus.edu.sg)Mr. Mehta Kalpesh Badreshkumar

Kalpesh received his Masters from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, in electrical engineering (with specialization in Microwave and Phonics) in 2006, Bachelors from Gujarat university with specialization in electronics and communication in 2004.

He worked as a senior project associate at IIT Kanpur on a Indian space research organization sponsored project for one year before joining his graduate study in July 2007.

Currently he is holding NGS scholarship.

Ali Hasnain BEng

Ali Hasnain received his undergraduate degree in Mechatronics Engineering from National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), Pakistan in 2008. He was working as a research engineer in Next Generation Intelligent Network Research Center (nexGIN RC- www.nexginrc.org), before he joined National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2010 as a PhD candidate. His interests are inclined towards optical system design. In spare time, he enjoys playing sports and likes travelling.
