Computational Bioengineering Laboratory
Welcome to the Computational Bioengineering Laboratory in the Division of Bioengineering at the National University of Singapore. We hope you enjoy your visit!
If a picture is worth a thousand words then a mathematical/computational model can succinctly describe the results from a thousand experiments. With the recent explosion in the amount of biological data being recorded it is becoming increasingly difficult, if not impossible, for any one person to understand what the data means, particularly if one is interested in making sense of the big picture. Computational bioengineering, with its ability to describe data and concepts in terms of the universal language of mathematics, is gaining recognition as arguably the only viable solution to this problem. Our expertise encompasses mathematical modelling, software and algorithm development, numerical techniques such as finite element analysis, computer simulation and visualisation, signal and image processing plus an understanding of the biological systems that drive our efforts.
